Japanese Sword

Training includes the use of both the long sword (katana) and short sword (wakizashi), developing precision, control, and an understanding of distance and timing through traditional paired and individual practice.

Sword training develops precision, timing, and control through structured and disciplined practice. Students learn how to move efficiently, maintain balance, and understand distance while working with a traditional weapon. This training builds focus, awareness, and refined body mechanics that carry into all areas of martial arts.

Katana

Training with the Katana focuses on precision, timing, and controlled movement. Students develop an understanding of distance, posture, and efficient cutting mechanics through structured practice. This training builds discipline, focus, and refined body control.

Students develop an understanding of correct distancing, timing, and the ability to generate power with minimal effort. The emphasis is on controlled, precise movement rather than strength.

Wakizashi

The Wakizashi introduces close-range awareness and adaptability in confined spaces. Training emphasises control, positioning, and quick, efficient movement. It complements longer weapons by developing versatility and responsiveness.

Students learn how to operate effectively in confined spaces, developing quick, efficient responses and improved awareness. This complements longer weapons by building versatility and control in tighter situations.

Daishō (Long & Short Sword)

Daishō training involves the combined use of both long and short swords, developing coordination and strategic awareness. Students learn how the two weapons work together to control distance and create advantage. This practice deepens understanding of timing, positioning, and adaptability, as well as application against other weapons.

Students develop coordination and strategic awareness when using two swords, as well as understanding timing and positioning when facing different weapon types. This broadens their ability to adapt, control distance, and respond effectively in varied scenarios.
